The second run of Resilient Cities: world congress on cities and adaptation to climate change has taken place in Bonn Germany, bringing together about 600 delegates, including Mayors, governors, top UN officials and major stakeholders from around the world. GRF Davos was an Endorsing Partner of Resilient Cities 2011 and actively participated in the conference. Represented by Dr. Walter Ammann, President and Prof. Andreas Rechkemmer, Chief Science and Policy Advisor, GRF Davos, together with ICLEI and UNCCD, have organized a Round Table Discussion on Thursday 2 June 2011 with representatives from Mexico City, the State of Mexico City, and from Aguascalientes to discuss joint projects on combatting land degradation. Awareness raising and mitigation and adaptation strategies have been addressed.
On Friday 3 June 2011 ICLEI’s Secretary General Konrad Otto-Zimmermann and GRF Davos’ President Dr. Walter J. Ammann have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for future close cooperation.
As one of the major outcomes of the conference ICLEI launched a white paper on financing resilience.
