2nd Disaster Surgery Workshop Davos is going to be held from 6 – 7 December 2013, at the Congress Center (room Sertig) in Davos, Switzerland and will take place back-to-back with the traditional AO Foundation Davos Courses. The workshop jointly organised by GRF Davos, AO Trauma and the AO Foundation will be led by top experts in the fields of disaster surgery and disaster management and thus provide ideal opportunities for networking and for knowledge and experience exchange.
The foundation Global Risk Forum GRF Davos has been founded in 2008, aiming to bridge the gaps between science, administration, the private sector, practice and the public regarding risk reduction, disaster management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Following our credo „From Thoughts to Action“, we create interaction between key players by connecting line ministries, disaster, risk and safety management authorities, academic institutions, the private sector and the media together by closely linking practice, science, policy and decision making in the search for sustainable solutions.
GRF Davos, as a centre of knowledge and know-how exchange for the application of contemporary risk management strategies, tools and practical solutions offers conferences, workshops and training courses as well as consulting services.
The Risk Award, endowed with up to 100.000 €, is a joint initiative of UNISDR, the Munich Re Foundation and GRF Davos and will be assigned to operational projects in the field of risk reduction and disaster management. The specific objective of the Risk Award is to increase people’s resilience to risks and disasters, especially in developing countries.The second Risk Award is dedicated to the topic of “Disaster emergency – Resilience for the most vulnerable” and will be awarded at the 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC Davos) 2014, organised by GRF Davos. Proposals my be submitted until 31 December 2013.
